My mission as an educator is to illuminate multiple pathways for each student's college, career, and life aspirations by creating a comprehensive counseling curriculum and through a practice of high expectations, empathy, support, and opportunities for meaningful participation. I support and empower all students to challenge themselves to meet their full potential.
One of the most important aspect for me when working with youth is making sure they are well aware of their full potential. I believe everyone deserves to be seen for their inherent strengths and skills. Individuals are not defined by their problems, but are defined by their capacity for growth and change. By re-framing the perception of the situation, we can empower individuals to make positive change in their life and develop positive, realistic, and achievable goals.
I believe in collaborating, promoting, and fostering a community. It is important to identify and use community resources and services to strengthen our school, families, and student learning. Engaging with families in a meaningful and culturally appropriate way allows engagement in the learning process. Everyone deserves to know they have supportive people around them who wants to help them reach their goals.
My ability to analyze data and identify gaps ensures students receive what they need to succeed. I believe it is important to develop and sustain data-driven counseling practices to reduce the achievement gaps and ensure equitable education for all students. In addition, documenting interventions and activities enables me to review, analyze, and plan effectively.Â
I believe all students deserve equal access to great opportunities and a high quality education. I am committed to helping students and families navigate the education system by being a supportive system and resource.
